Description

This scholarship program offers annual awards to medical students in the year preceding graduation and the year of graduation. The scholarship program is also offered to family medicine residents 1 and 2.

COMMITMENT: Upon licensure, scholarship recipients are required to provide services in a territory designated by the Minister of Health and Social Services for a number of years equal to the number of scholarships granted, up to a maximum of four. A different commitment applies to isolated areas 111, 1V and V. The commitment is for one year for the first scholarship and 6 months for each subsequent scholarship obtained.


Eligibility requirements

Applicants must :

  • be domiciled in Quebec
  • be fluent in French
  • be registered in a medical school
  • commit to provide services under a contract (upon signature of the agreement form)
Eligible candidates will be selected by a selection committee made up of at least 3 members. The committee will determine applicants’ interest in medical practice in remote areas based on the information provided in the registration form. In addition, academic achievements will also be taken into account by the committee.

How to apply

  • For first or subsequent applications, fill out and sign the application and agreement forms provided by the Ministère. Forms can be obtained from your school of medicine. They can also be found at the end of this section.
  • Attach a letter of reference from the Dean of your school of medicine or his/her representative and an official transcript of your academic record (see Scholarship Application Form below).
