Gerontology, Mental health

Description

The fellowship in mental health is particularly aimed at students in mental health at work or in youth mental health. It is not renewable.

The fellowship in gerontology, geriatrics offered by Desjardins Sécurité financière, is renewable once, upon presentation of a new application. The scholarship aims to support students interested in pursuing studies in the field of gerontology. The following research topics must receive preference :

  • natural caregivers
  • maintaining the elderly at home
  • the quality of life of the elderly


Eligibility requirements

Is eligible, any person of Canadian citizenship or with permanent resident status, residing in Québec or member of a Desjardins caisse in Ontario. As the offer of a scholarship from the Foundation is accepted, the winner must established that he/she is enrolled full time in a university program (fall and winter sessions following the request). To receive the award, the winner must be a member of a Desjardins caisse or agree to become one.


Amount

  • Mental health
  • 1 bursary at the master's level, 1 bursary of $10,000 over 4 terms, at the graduate level, awarded by Desjardins Financial Security. This bursary is intended specifically for students of mental health in the workplace or youth mental health. It is not renewable.
  • Gerontology, geriatrics
  • 1 bursary of $7,500 over 2 terms, offered by Desjardins Financial Security, renewable once, upon submittal of a new application. This bursary is intended specifically for students pursuing post-graduate studies in gerontology. Research themes preferably focus on:
    • caregivers
    • homecare of the aging
    • the quality of life for the aging

How to apply

The form must be completed legibly with the whole academic achievement since the beginning of university studies (1 original and 3 photocopies). It must be returned by mail in 4 copies.

For scholarships for master’s, the candidate must join under seal, 3 evaluation forms completed, preferably by teachers , including the director of research.
