• Suicide prévention week
Date du début: 04-02-2018 à 10-02-2018

Based on the theme “Talking about suicide saves lives”,
the 28th Suicide Prevention Week will be taking place across Quebec
from February 4 to 10, 2018.

For the occasion, the FNQLHSSC produced the video “On est là pour toi / We are here for you” featuring members from different First Nations and Inuit communities in Quebec. This video aims to demonstrate that we all have a role to play in suicide prevention.

In a news release, the Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador, Ghislain Picard, highlighted the seventh First Nations Wellness Day as well as the 28th edition of Suicide Prevention Week.

This year, the Suicide Prevention Week focuses on a fundamental element of prevention, which is speaking out. To reduce suicide rates, it is important to open the dialogue on the subject. Whether you are looking to express your distress and find solace, ask a loved one who is not doing well if they are contemplating suicide, disseminate help resources or promote your community’s engagement, there are ways you can talk about it in a preventive and safe manner as well as key elements for active listening. The website www.commentparlerdusuicide.com (French only) offers tips for anyone who needs to talk about the subject.

From February 4 to 10, 2018, the FNQLHSSC joins the Association québécoise de prévention du suicide (AQPS) and encourage you to get actively involved in the cause by raising awareness among your community, family and colleagues. Talking about suicide saves lives. Let's open the dialogue and show people around us that we are here for them.
