Signature of a partnership agreement on Suicide Prevention Training signed by the Association québécoise de prevention du suicide (AQPS) and the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission (FNQLHSSC) on February 12, 2015

Collaboration to work together in the development of programs, services and strategies between partners providing services to First Nations is essential and paramount to ensure the best services are available. Since 2012, the FNQLHSSC has been working in partnership with the CSSS-IUGS, the AQPS, the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS), Suicide Action Montréal, and Health Canada through a strategic committee to adapt and implement the “Quebec’s Suicide Prevention Best Practices Guide” to the cultural and socio-economic context of First Nations communities.

The partners also formed a committee of experts which included First Nations community members to adapt the training material which is now being provided to First Nations intervention workers though four (4) pilot projects.

The strategic committee last met on February 12, 2015 to review the results of the mobilization training which preceded the actual training on suicide prevention in the pilot communities, and to discuss the next steps to be taken. Because of the success of this collaboration and in order to ensure continuity of the project, the FNQLHSSC and the AQPS concluded a Training Partnership Agreement in order to continue offering the adapted training program to First Nations communities.

Ms. Marjolaine Siouï, Executive Director of the FNQLHSSC, and Mr. Jérome Gaudreault, Executive Director of the AQPS, proudly signed this partnership agreement.
