  • Work of the Subcommittee of the Committee of Partners on the Calls to Action by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
Mar 12, 2019

The Committee of Partners of the health and social services governance process called for the establishment of a subcommittee to follow-up on the actions taken and the results achieved with regard to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). The objectives of this subcommittee are to identify and prioritize the TRC's Calls to Action that are of interest to the partners and to follow-up on them and identify courses of action. The subcommittee is made up of representatives of the organizations on the Committee of Partners: Indigenous Services Canada (First Nations and Inuit Health Branch and Regional Operations), the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec, the Secrétariat aux affaires autochtones and the FNQLHSSC.

Regular meetings of the subcommittee have been held since August 2017 and several courses of action have been identified. The priority courses of action deal with issues such as youth protection, Jordan's Principle, access to data and the training of health professionals. The members of the subcommittee are now working to implement these courses of action and to resolve administrative issues that have persisted for many years.
