  • Increased number of places reserved for First Nations and Inuit within the faculties of medicine of Quebec
Mar 13, 2019

Since 2008, the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission (FNQLHSSC) has been actively working with the four faculties of medicine of Quebec to implement the Quebec First Nations and Inuit Faculties of Medicine Program (QFNIFMP). To date, 44 First Nations students were admitted in the program, and six of them have already completed their training and are now family physicians or specialist physicians.

Initially, four places were reserved annually for First Nations and Inuit students. In the past few years however, the number of applications has increased and significantly exceeds the number of places available.

The FNQLHSSC is very proud to announce that, as a result of this collaboration, the number of places reserved for these students is now increased to six.

Note that the QFNIFMP aims to support First Nations and Inuit candidates wishing to enter one of the four faculties of medicine of Quebec, with the help of an intake structure that facilitates their admission and integration throughout their studies.
