• Red Memory: A visit not to be missed
Apr 24, 2013

Montreal, April 23, 2013 – The First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission (FNQLHSSC) is pleased to present the Red Memory museum exhibition during the national event of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) that will be taking place on April 24 to 27, 2013, at the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth in Montreal.

Red Memory lifts the veil on the history of the Indian residential schools of Quebec and plunges the visitors into this world in order to enable them to understand the nature of the injuries, losses and cultural assimilation that the survivors and their families have been subjected to. The FNQLHSSC also hopes that the Red Memory exhibition will mark the beginning of a new dialogue process between all of the First Nations and the non-Aboriginal peoples of Quebec and Canada.

The Executive Director of the FNQLHSSC, Ms. Marjolaine Siouï, is encouraging the population to come and visit the museum exhibition: "We are really proud to present Red Memory which was developed with the participation of the Indian residential school survivors. The visit is free-of-charge and we sincerely hope that many people will attend in order to learn and be part of a process focused on healing and reconciling with the past."

The Red Memory museum exhibition was unveiled during a premiere that was held last fall at the Hôtel-Musée Premières Nations (First Nations hotel-museum) in Wendake. It will be on display at the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel on April 24 to 27, 2013, before relocating to The Native Museum of Mashteuiatsh. This exhibition should not be missed!
