• New edition of the First Nations in Quebec and Labrador’s Research Protocol
Nov 24, 2014

The Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador (AFNQL) is proud to release the latest version of the research protocol, the 2014 First Nations in Quebec and Labrador’s Research Protocol. The document is accompanied by a summary sheet that highlights the fundamental values and principles for carrying out research projects in an ethical manner, in keeping with the vision of First Nations. Several tools (in Word format) have also been included, which can be used as presented or adapted as needed.

The content of the 2014 First Nations in Quebec and Labrador’s Research Protocol builds on the 2005 edition adopted by the AFNQL Chiefs, in response to the needs expressed by several First Nations communities and organizations. We invite you to use it or draw from it, as your needs dictate, to develop your own rules for research and protection of your information assets. Note that the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission (FNQLHSSC) will develop training on the protocol’s content in the coming months for the people who are likely to be invited to participate and collaborate in research projects in First Nations communities or regional organizations. The goal of this training will be to familiarize these people with the protocol’s content. More information about the training will be made available at a future date.

If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Gros-Louis McHugh, Manager of the Research Sector at the FNQLHSSC.
