• Official opening of the 8th edition of the FNEC inter-school games
May 28, 2015

This year, the Games are being held for the second time at Laval University’s PEPS sports complex from May 27 to 31, 2015. Over 500 students between the ages of 10 and 18 from 15 First Nations schools across Quebec will be competing in volleyball, basketball, floor hockey and track and field events. The objective of these games is to promote physical fitness, foster healthy lifestyle habits and encourage students from First Nations communities to stay in school.

Since the Games began in 2008, the FNEC has noted a continual increase in the number of school sports teams. The high level of preparation of students in the competitions demonstrates their hard work and commitment throughout the school year. Coaches and athletes are unanimous: these games fill an important need among communities.

In addition to the competitions, several activities have been scheduled for the participants. The complete program of events is available at www.inter-schoolgames.com.

It should be remembered that FNEC Inter-school Games are made possible thanks to the commitment of school staff members, numerous volunteers, the RBA Foundation, as well as the financial support from generous sponsors.
