• Jordan’s Principle
Oct 11, 2017

On January 26, 2016, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal ordered the Government of Canada to stop all discrimination against First Nations children and fully implement Jordan’s Principle.

Process for submitting a child’s case

  1. Contact the Jordan’s Principle coordinator in your community

Every community is entitled to a resource person in charge of identifying children whose needs are going unmet and of supporting families in receiving required services. The first step in submitting a child’s case is to consult this person for help identifying what is needed to meet the child’s needs. Contact your health centre or nursing station for more information.

  1. Submit a child’s case to the Jordan’s Principle coordinator at Health Canada

If the child is not receiving needed services, the Jordan’s Principle coordinator in your community can also help you submit the child’s case to the person in charge of applying Jordan’s Principe at Health Canada.

To submit a child’s case to Health Canada, please contact the Jordan’s Principle team at 1‑800‑567‑9604 or jordan-dgspni-fnihb-quebec@hc-sc.gc.ca.
