Dec 12, 2017
On November 7-9, 2017, over one hundred stakeholders and partners from 28 First Nations communities in Quebec got together at Manoir du Lac Delage as part of the first edition of the Forum on Wellness organized by the FNQLHSSC.

Under the theme “Promoting our wellness through our culture,” this event was an opportunity to collectively reflect on the role that First Nations culture play in achieving and maintaining overall wellness. Jacob Flores, a motivational speaker, committed panelists and many experienced speakers tackled a variety of topics, such as the implementation of culturally adapted initiatives and the adoption of healthy habits to take care of oneself. During a group activity, participants have begun to reflect on community strengths and opportunities to foster and promote culture. Participants also had the opportunity to participate in various activities focused on holistic wellness: sweat lodge, massage as well as group physical activity.

The feedback received indicate that the forum has reached its objectives and that it has been very rewarding at both the personal and professional levels. The FNQLHSSC team is already thinking about the actions to take next … To be continued!
