• 1st Summit on emergency medicine in rural or distant region
Feb 15, 2018

The Association des médecins d’urgence du Québec and the Urgences rurales 360o research group invite you to the 1er Sommet sur la médecine d’urgence en région rurale et éloignée (1st Summit on emergency medicine in rural or distant region).

On the theme Développons des solutions (Let’s develop solutions), this summit’s objectives are to mobilise hundreds of Québec’s professionals, decision makers and citizens to discuss optimizing care in rural and distant regions emergency departments.

Urgences rurales 360o research results show that most hospitals in those regions have a limited access to advanced medical imaging and intensive care units. Patients who can’t receive appropriate care must be transferred to other hospitals far from their home or region of residence. Furthermore, in a context where there are no national standards of care, service can be unfair between the urban and the rural or distant centers.

The 1er Sommet sur la médecine d’urgence en région rurale et éloignée will offer conferences, workshops and panel discussions, mostly in French, on subjects such as essential care protocols, transfer improvement, regional training, physician recruitment and retention, and access to point of care ultrasound, medical imaging, specialists, and telemedicine.

An open invitation is issued to each actor in emergency medicine: doctors, nurses, department managers, head of hospitals, paramedics, and citizens.
