The Health sector provides technical support and is actively involved in developing strategies aiming to support the implementation of culturally-appropriate community initiatives that address the needs of First Nations.
Forums on various topics are held every year to allow health stakeholders to expand and update their knowledge as well as share their common experience and problems in order to identify effective and efficient solutions for the benefit of First Nations.
In addition, the Health sector is involved on developing culturally appropriate prevention, promotion, awareness and information tools to support and promote community initiatives.
Steered by advisory committees made up of designated community representatives, the Health sector advocates Quebec First Nations’ rights to quality health care on the occasion of various regional and national meetings with the provincial and federal governments.
