The health sector provides administrative and technical support to communities for the implementation of health programs. It plays an active role in the development of strategies and the deployment of community initiatives adapted to First Nations needs and culture. The sector is actively engaged in all areas of health, from transmissible diseases to the promotion of healthy lifestyles, healthcare delivery and health human resources.

The sector organizes annual forums on various themes which allow healthcare workers to acquire and update knowledge and skills and to share their common problems and experiences in order to identify the most effective solutions for the First Nations. The sector also develops prevention, promotion,
awareness, and culturally adapted information tools, which are used to support and stimulate community initiatives.
